Join the GPL Foundation and Friends for our Winter Book Sale. Expand your home library while helping the Library.

We have an extensive collection of donated books, DVDs, CDs, etc. that are all new to this sale.

"Early Bird" Hour - $5.00 to shop from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. (Free early admission for GPL Friends members.)

Milwaukee Bucks Library Reading Challenge 2012

Students in grades 3rd - 10th can now sign-up for the Milwaukee Bucks Library Reading Challenge!

Between January 3rd and February 28th, students can participate. If they read a total of 500 pages, they earn a FREE Bucks ticket and a chance to shoot a free throw after the game!

Sign-up at the Greendale Public Library Reference Desk and receive your packet which includes: a Bucks poster, four Bucks bookmarks, Bucks stickers, and a reading record. Turn your reading record into the library by Feb. 28th to receive the form for redeeming your FREE ticket.

If 750 pages or more are read, the student will be entered in a contest for an autographed basketball and lots of other cool prizes!

The Village of Greendale celebrates its 75th Anniversary in 2013. To mark this special event, the Greendale Public Library is pleased to announce the release of a limited-edition Greendale 75th Diamond Anniversary library card!

The commemorative card is available now. Each card comes in a set containing 1 wallet-sized card and 1 key tag. The card features Greendale's official 75th Anniversary diamond-shaped logo on a brilliant green background.

Anniversary cards will be issued free of charge to new cardholders. Current cardholders may purchase a commemorative card for a $1.00 donation. Proceeds go the Greendale Public Library Foundation, Inc.

Lego Club - Grades 2nd-4th

Lego Club Meets:

Saturday, February 18th— 9:00am-10:00am

Saturday, March 17th— 9:00am-10:00am

Saturday, April 14th— 9:00am-10:00am

Open Lego play for kids in Grades 2nd-4th. At each Lego Club we will have a building ‘theme’ - have your creation displayed in the library until the next Lego Club!

Winter Story Times 2012

Tuesdays 10:30am-11:15am
Library Babies will stimulate your baby’s mind with books, songs, rhymes, lap bounces and more to help those babies grow. Enjoy story time followed by open playtime!

Lap Sitters for 2's and 3's
(2 and 3 years old)
Wednesdays 9:30am-10:00am
At Lap Sitters toddlers will be active with silly songs, dancing, reading stories, finger plays and a make-it and take-it craft!

Story Time for 3's to 5's
(3 to 5 years old)
Thursdays 10:00am-10:40am
For children 3 years to 5 years, enjoy a longer story time that will include finger plays and activities, songs and stories, and a make-it and take-it craft!

Registration Begins MONDAY, JANUARY 30th at 10AM for Greendale Residents; 10 AM - Tuesday, January 31st for the General Public.On your day of registration, visit us at the library or call 414-423-2136 to register -OR- email us at grnd.ref@mcfls.org.

Tax Forms at the Library

Each year during tax season, the Greendale Public Library offers a supply of widely used state and federal income tax forms and instructions for the public. The forms and instructions are available free on a table located near the front entrance of the library. This year, we will begin putting out tax forms after January 3, 2012. Forms are put out as they are received from the government agencies.

Milwaukee County Teen Book Nominees Announced

The MCFLS Young Adult Services Committee is excited to announce the 2012 nominee titles for the Milwaukee County Teen Book Award! The MCTBA was started by the YASC in 2009 to promote teen reading and literature by highlighting and awarding books published for teens of both quality and appeal. The fifteen nominees for 2012 were selected from titles published for teens between September 1, 2010 and August 31, 2011.
